New Deluxe Mardi Gras 72" Costume Accessory Feather Boa

New Deluxe Mardi Gras 72 Costume Accessory Feather Boa
These really made and added to the Mardi Gras party I had a couple of months ago. There is a cotton rope in the middle and the feathers are connected to it. Very nice.

However, the feathers come of. Constantly. The next day, with 3 of these at the party, it was like different color birds had exploded. They are hard to pick up and get off things and two months later I still find small pieces of them.

Edit: I used these for a Mardi Gras party. It's now Dec 22nd (I wrote the above near the end of May) and I am STILL finding feathers! I threw the darn thing away 6 months ago! I have since moved to a new house even! I think the feathers are multiplying.

Belkin Wireless AC USB Wifi Adapter (F9L1106)

Belkin Wireless AC USB Wifi Adapter (F9L1106)
I've been using this for a week now. There is no info or forum support out there in cyberspace. Nor is there any help on the Belkin website. If you search the belkin website for this item the only support is a driver download. But the driver on their website was designed for a different adapter. The driver included in the box is totally different and doesnt work either.

Let me clarify. I'm using windows 7 home edition. When I try to install the driver either by included cd or the file from Belkin, I get an error message. When I plug in the adapter it works BUT. BIG BUT. Everytime i shut down or restart my computer the adapter is no longer detected. I have to unplug and plug back in the USB cable. Then I have to go to device manager and renable the driver. Because for some reason it disables itself every reset or shutdown.

So Basically what this product needs is an updated drive from belkin or some friggen support. If anyone has the same problem and figured out how to fix it please let me know.

Badger Basket Folding Nursery Basket/Storage Cube

Badger Basket Folding Nursery Basket/Storage Cube
I bought three of the chocolate brown and blue polka dot baskets. They are very attractive and a nice quality material. I was surprised because I had very low expectations and only paid a few dollars for them. I can fit the three nicely on top of my son's dresser. They hold quite a few diapers and other supplies. I've had shallow baskets that weren't nearly as functional. So far they seem very sturdy and aren't an eye sore like platic baskets or wicker ones that have shred or have fallen apart on me. I'm very satisfied with this purchase, although a matching lid would be great for storing items for longer term or stacking.

          Product Description

These handy baskets are lightweight, easy to carry around, won't scratch your furniture, and fold flat for storage. Fabric covered cubes are useful and stylish. Ideal for storing and organizing diapers, clothes, diapering supplies, lotions, towels, toys, and more. Particularly handy when used on or near your changing table in the nursery. Use them anywhere around the house - in closets and cabinets, too. The perfect size for books and magazines. Helpful handles on the sides for lifting and carrying. Remove the bottom insert panel and the cube folds flat. Makes it easy to buy a few to keep on hand for occasional use without taking up too much space when they are empty. Soft, fabric covered bottom is gentle on furniture - won't scratch. Each basket measures 10" length x 9" weight x 11" height. Covered in polka dot fabric with reinforced binding around all edges. Fabric is a poly/cotton blend and can be spot cleaned with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the baskets in water. Actual basket's colors may vary slightly from shown due to continuous product improvement and differences in computer displays.

Sealy Stain Protection Crib Mattress Pad

Sealy Stain Protection Crib Mattress Pad
I got one of these and a circo brand fitted mattress pad when my first was born. This was my least favorite. It shrunk the first wash and continued to shrink. It worked ok for the first couple years in the crib and then on the toddler bed. I liked the target one better. However with my second child I purchased the target one again and it is not as good as the one from 2006. Now I have the "Carters keep my dry fitted crib pad." It is by far the best out of the three I've had. I strongly recommend that one. It doesn't shrink at all and holds up well to frequent washings. This Sealy one is more expensive and not as well made.

            NETGEAR Centria: All-in-One Back-up, Media Server, N900 WiFi Router; 2TB version (WNDR4720)

            NETGEAR Centria: All-in-One Back-up, Media Server, N900 WiFi Router; 2TB version (WNDR4720)
(Edit: I added a video showing some of the storage performance, (in the video I pretty much just copy large and small files back and forth to the router, in other words, 8:17 of boredom)

I used this router during a beta test and enjoyed every moment of using it.

The setup is extremely easy just like with all of their other routers using the netgear genie web UI, It simply auto detects everything and gets you online.
The stock security is also decent. They generally use a combination of multiple dictionary words and a random set of numbers at the end (unique to each router) While this is not as strong as using a full character space completely random password such as those generated by GRC, it beats what many other routers are doing to secure the users who cant be bothered to log into the webui and make things secure them self.

While to meet wifi alliance requirements, WPS has to be enabled by default, a workaround has been done to secure it. 3 failed WPS connect attempts, automatically disables WPS which makes the brute force vulnerability nearly impossible to execute.

Overall for the setup part, you can be sure that you will have decent security without having to change anything.

            -------------------------

            Now for the performance:

Wired connections LAN to LAN: UDP traffic goes at 990mbit+ and TCP traffic (not using jumbo frames) will go at around 980Mbit/s

Wired connection WAN to LAN: you get around 950mbit/s (though it slows over time). Not many routers are able to do that (at least when comparing my personal benchmarks with the WAN to LAN results of other routers on small network builder)

Wireless speed are also really good. While not groundbreaking compared to other high end routers, you do get very similar performance with speeds of around 150mbit/s + (if you have a wifi card capable of 3 streams)

One area dealing with wifi where this router comes out ahead, is the range and consistency of the speed across it's range. The wifi radios on this router run at 600mmw (many other routers will not push such a high transmit power). Higher transmit powers does a great job at improving overall range because the wifi card in the router is more sensitive than those found in the average laptop or desktop, so they make use of a signal received from much further away. Since the radio sensitivity is often lower for most laptops, having the router boost it's transmit power, significantly increases the range. In my personal test, I could go outside and walk about 400 feet away from the house before I lost connection ( I would have gotten further but that is as far as I can go and still maintain line of sight with the house)

Another benefit of a higher transmit power is that modern wifi devices negotiate the upload and download speed separately, so at a very far range where your laptop would drop the connection rate to around 5mbit/s, you will still have downloads which are significantly higher. For most people this effectively makes it so that your range bottleneck will become the wifi client and not the router.

            --------------------------------------------

And finally, the the storage performance.

While the storage performance will be reduces as the hard drive gets more full(depending on the files if the drive has to do lots of small read and writes due to the type of data, then expect to lose up to half of that speed by the time you reach the end of the drive), Using a 2TB hard drive, I was getting around 90-95MB/s read speeds and around 45-50MB/s write speeds which is pretty close to similarly priced devices that are dedicated NAS devices. (though hitting those speeds temporally requires you to disable the DLNA service)

It also had a DLNA server built in and when I tested it, I streamed 6 1080p videos at the same time and it had no issues

(The area where it will fall short of a true dedicated NAS, is handling multiple hard drives, 1 hard drive bay means that you cant do any kind of RAID

While it does have 2 USB 3 ports on it, they will not perform as fast as the internal SATA drive.

            ----------------------------------------------

            Overall rundown of the specs.
            1GHz single core CPU (2000mips)
            256MB RAM
            128MB internal flash storage
Dual wifi adapters, both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz adapters have their own dedicated antennas (3 Antennas each, 6 total)
            5x gigabit ethernet ports
            2x USB3.0 ports
            1x SD card slot

            ===========================

            Pros and cons

            Pros:
Really good wireless and wired performance (better wireless performance than pretty much all of the other high end routers (except the 802.11ac ones)

Decent amount of RAM (most high end routes only offer 128MB, the 256 provides hope that many more software features will be added :) )

Fast CPU (this really helps with the WAN transfer speeds, though you are unlikely to ever run into a was speed limit (unless you are using a super fast gigabit internet connection such as the one google is offering)

Great NAS performance for a router (faster than all other NAS routers currently on the market by a pretty large amount)

the front lights are not very bright (while this may be a con to some, it is a pro to me because it means that I can have the router in the bedroom and not wake up in the morning with a tan :) (I just don't like having really bright LED's on a router)

            Cons:

No LAN activity lights for each of the ethernet ports

The bottom stand does not offer much space around the ethernet ports, this makes it difficult to remove and connect ethernet cables if you do not have ample room to have the back of the router facing you.

No options to customize the side buttons. The side button options are wifi on/off, WPS, and backup (which allows the router to automatically backup all data from an external storage device such as a SD card, to the routers internal hard drive). The issue is that other than testing, I don't see my self ever using WPS and that button would be more useful if it could be customized ( eg I would personally set it to enable/ disable the guest wifi network)

It is very large compared to other routers (expect it to take about twice as much space as a standard router (it also has only one orientation; the one you see in the stock photo)
(this may limit where you can place the router)

            ---------------------------

Overall this is one of the best routers that I have used and while it does have a few limitations (most of which can be fixed in software (really hoping for the ability to customize what the side buttons do), it offers solid performance and is very reliable (which is to be expected and demanded in this price range.

            Cradlepoint Wireless Router MBR95

            Cradlepoint Wireless Router MBR95
I replaced my Cradlepoint CTR 350 with the MBR95 in order to gain the speed of the "n" type wireless connection. What I gained from this unit was so much more. This router has 4 ethernet connections as well as 2 wireless channels. One primary for the owners use and a completely seperate channel for guests to use. Both have separate IDs as well as access codes. The MBR95 can also be used with cable or other fixed type systems. I am a full time RVer and this has been a huge upgrade in my internet access capability. I am curently using my same 3G modem with excellent results. I am going to try a 4G modem soon and see how that works. This router will support either type modem. It can also interface other wireless devices such as printers with ease. I would highly recommend this to anyone wanting high quality wireless service for their computer network at work or at home. I am using Verizon Wireless for my phone and wireless modem and have had outstanding service even in remote areas here in Florida.

Belkin N900 Dual-Band Wireless N Router + Gigabit (Latest Generation)

Belkin N900 Dual-Band Wireless N Router + Gigabit (Latest Generation)
An IT person by trait my goal is to always seek out performance. The N900 promised just that...what I got was not what I expected.

            Pros:
Dual Band - Separate 2.4ghz and 5ghz networks.
            Guest Network
2 USB Ports to attach storage, etc.
QOS - Quality of Service features built in for multimedia streaming.

            Cons:
Range/Speed are not up to spec of 802.11n (2.4ghz range was OK).
Software needs major fixing - every change requires a 90second reboot.

I have been a long time user of Apple's Airport Extreme which is in the same price range and offers dual band connectivity. I did my usual speed testing and my results were as expected; however my range was reduced in the 5ghz band and the 2.4ghz band got progressively worst as I moved farther away (naturally).

I use MAC's at home and ran some tests with iStumbler (wireless test utility. I also checked my transmit rates on the MAC and compared them to my Airport Extreme. (Images have been uploaded). You will notice in one image that a router that is clear on the other side of my home was providing me a similar signal to the N900 which was about 6 feet away from me when testing. Naturally I tried multiple laptops/ipad/ipod to see if this was a hardware issue with my machines or the router itself...in all cases the range was not as good as I had hoped.

            Here is what I found:
The range in 2.4ghz was OK/Good. The range in 5ghz was lower than what I have gotten with other dual band routers. The transmit speed in the 2.4ghz band was normal but the rate in the 5ghz band was half of what we should be seeing. The transmit rate in the 5ghz band was about 130 which is about half of what I get with any other dual band router including the Apple Airport Extreme (see attached images for comparison).

Personally I feel that a router costing as much as this unit should at the very least come close to the promised specifications. It did not...thus my 3 star rating. I feel that Belkin has a great looking product with some excellent functionality - but it needs MAJOR improvement (maybe firmware will fix??). For now I would pass on this and look elsewhere for dual band connectivity.

Again, please look at my images for some comparisons.

Our Linksys E3200 High-Performance Simultaneous Dual-Band Wireless-N Router sits in a basement corner and covers most of the house but its signal is simply not strong enough at the exact opposite end of the house on the second floor (master bedroom) where I get 1-2 bars on my laptop on a good day and, from time to time, nothing at all. With the Range Extender (it's a wireless repeater) plugged into a wall outlet on the first floor I am now getting 4-5 bars consistently and about 65Mbps. Problem solved.

I am happy with my purchase because the RE1000 finally solves a problem and it's one thing I will not have to worry about and because it's one of the easiest to set up 'networking' gadgets I know of. So, these are the facts and my experience.

            WHAT YOU GET

            * The RE1000 Range Extender itself
            * CD that has the setup utility and the manual
            * AC cord, just in case you don't want to plug it directly into the wall outlet
            * AC power connector cover
            * A short Ethernet cable that may be needed for setup

            WHAT ELSE YOU NEED

            * A wireless b/g/n router, obviously
            * PC or Mac with Wi-Fi and a CD drive to run the setup
            * Some Web browser to run the more sophisticated setup and administration activities

            SETUP AND INSTALLATION

It's as easy as running the Setup program. After a minute or so you are asked to plug the device into a power outlet somewhere near the router for it to be 'discovered'. That's done quickly and the RE1000 is ready to use by plugging it directly into a wall outlet or you can use the supplied cord.

More sophisticated admin tasks can be performed through a browser. You will need to know RE1000's IP address for that to work. Through your favorite Web browser, you can associate your device with a specific access point or router and determine signal strength at various locations to determine your extender's optimal placement.

There are more options but none was needed with our CISCO router and it should be the case with most b/g/n routers.

            RATING

I wish that all 'electronics' were this easy and efficient. Once the 5-minute setup is done you can plug this anywhere in the house (within your router's range) and it will just work. We happened to have a stormy day yesterday and we lost power several times - not an uncommon occurrence - and every time the RE1000 reconnected itself to the router once the power came back and did its magic without requiring any human intervention. This is near-zero maintenance device that addresses the source of major frustrations.

This is a five-stars without hesitation.

I live in a dorm / hotel situation where the WIFI connection was 2 bars at the best. I quickly figured out that my room was within the range of the router so I bought the Netgar range extender. I was sceptical at first but once I put it up in my room it was like magic. 2 bars are now solid 5 bars and I conect at 144 KBPS vs the 24 - 36 KBPS before. Only down side is that it goes to sleep and after 3-4 hours of inactivity and you have to reboot it each morning to release and renew the IP. Other that that it has been a life saver as I work from home and my VPN connections are robust now.

I have a large house with dead spots and I've spent hours doing research online and trying out all the top repeaters i could find. From the HAWKING Repeater (HWREN1), to the NETGEAR (3000 something) and most recently the LINKSYS (RE1000) and ended up returning all three of them (reliability issues - had to reboot the Hawking and Netgear ones constantly and setup/support was horrible). The Linksys one was easier to setup but did not give me the range i needed and i also couldn't tell what network i was connected to. The range wasn't good so i wasn't sure if i was still connected to the repeater or my home router. Either way all three went back. Btw I also talked to the support departments of a few of these companies and it was very hard to understand the techs and they kept on telling me it was my router that was the problem. Absolutely no help and very frustrating!

Finally I tried this Amped repeater and i wish i did so from the start. The set up is far easier than all of those and has MUCH MUCH more range. The fact that it has two external antennas, which the Amped techs told me i could detach and upgrade if i wanted, already gave me the feeling it would do better from the start. As far as setup goes, I just ran through the setup wizard in less than 5 minutes was up and running. Speedtest speeds went from 2mbps to 15mbps and i have coverage throughout my ENTIRE house. love it when a product works as advertised (especially a computer product)

Last thing i want to mention is their support department. Its very refreshing to be able to speak to techs that know their product and also work in america. The tech i talked to (i think his name is Tony) was very helpful and very well versed) He explained how amplifiers work and antennas etc... which is why the range was better on the Amped units. Thank you Amped!

The Amped Wireless High Power Wireless-300N Smart Repeater expands the range of your 802.11b/g/n wireless network by repeating the signal from your home or office wireless router and redistributing it in a new "extended" location. Computers, game consoles, networked Blu-ray players, televisions and other networked devices can then connect to the Smart Repeater using Wi-Fi or a wired connection (up to 5 ports available) to access the extended network. The Smart Repeater eliminates wireless dead zones, extends wireless and wired network coverage, and is compatible with most brands of models of 2.4GHz 802.11b/g/n wireless routers.
